Location: Makeshift Training Room, Red Raptor
Timeline: Day Four, After "Teaching the Art"

OLD

"In the meantime," he said, stepping towards the exit, "you can practise with the remote." He chucked the hilt suddenly towards Berry, who instinctively caught it. "As myself and Bomoor are going to have a few drinks." Thane gave the Near-Human a joking smile as he continued towards the door.

Bomoor began to follow him, panting very slightly but noticeably given his large vocal tract. He stopped by Bería, "Keep at it," he nodded to her, "If you concentrate on the force you should not even need your eyes."

He picked up the remote and flicked it on into the basic training mode, bringing it to life and sending it into the air before the part-Aquar. The Ithorian then proceeded after Thane and out of the door. He could use a drink right about now.

NEW
The training remote hovered in the air, staying in the center of the room. Perhaps it was set on beginner’s level and had not started to corner the trainee yet.

Berry glared at the flying Ball Thing. It looked stupid, with one part of it smushed by someone else. Yeah, probably ‘cause it was annoying!!

“Why do I have to do this, anyway,” she mumbled to herself as she stuck her head out of the room. Well, Pale Guy and Bombom said they were gonna have a drink…which meant that they would be in the kitchen—which was where she wanted to be, too! And if they told her to stay here and they saw her stuffing her face in the kitchen…then they’d know she wasn’t doing what they said.

She pouted and ducked her head back in the room, casting her gaze on the floating remote. Then she looked down at the ground at where the light stick hilt lay. Hey, this wasn’t that red one that Boomy awesomely put together with water magic. She approached the hilt, her bare feet padding on the ground. Her eyes widened. This was Pale Guy’s! It was pretty sleek, with cool gold band thingies on it. She picked it up and examined it, frowning in thought. Wonder how many people he killed with this…her frown deepened as she slid her hands across it, her skin shimmering silver just once. The inner water left on it from him…was this what Boomy was talking about, the trails people could leave?

She turned it in her hands and yelped when suddenly the blade ignited. She dropped the light stick and stared, her dark eyes reflecting a slight purple hue from the blade color.

This purple…it was very dark, not like the yummy purple berries she found every so often on her foraging trips on islands. It looked more like the poisonous one that she accidentally ate before Pacho started freaking out on her.

Berry extended a hand and picked up the light stick, by the hilt, of course. She glanced at the Ball Thing as it began to fly about in a more erratic manner.

How did they hold it? Boomy and Pale Guy had different styles, for sure, but…Berry adjusted her hands across the hilt, frowning. One hand below, the other above…like how Orza did when her other sword had broken and she was left with one. That made the blows stronger, since you were using two arms instead of one…but what if she didn’t wanna do that??

Berry was careful not to push the button and then looked over at the training remote. She inched closer, slowly, eyeing it.

The remote quickly zapped her in the arm, and Berry winced but didn’t stop moving. Hm, maybe she should do what Orza did. Let’s see, she held the sword in one hand, and one more in the other…Berry lowered the light stick, trying to make a serious face like her crewmate did.

The smell of something burning reached her nostrils, and she quickly glanced down. “Hey!” she cried out, and she pulled the light stick up.

A nice crispy hole had been burnt in one of the training mats/cloths things, and if Berry peered close enough, there was a slight cooling indent in the floor.

Berry laughed. Ooopsies. She bent down and started rolling the mat so it hid the burnt part inside the inner rolls.

But the light stick was dangerous! So she held it away from her and started kicking at the mat to roll it, a grimace starting to form on her face. Come…on…and…move!

Then she suddenly heard strange machine sounds, and without looking hopped around the mat like an idiot—but an idiot that wasn’t zapped!

“Stop that!” she whined to the Ball Thing. “I’m trying to fix something here.”

The light stick’s glowy part whooshed over toward the remote as she resumed kicking, sending off a whole barrage of zaps from the remote.

“Waaaah,” Berry cried as she waved the stick around with a hand, her other hand quickly rolling the mat.

She frowned at the remote, then gaped at the hole in the metal floor. It was so obvious now, with nothing around it. Maybe she could pull the non-burnt parts of the mats over the hole? The part-Aquar grimaced and put as much distance as she could between her and the remote as she started pulling on the mats.

Unbeknownst to the sheltered girl, she was now on the next level of training after having deflected enough zaps, and the remote slowly began to hover toward her, following the trainee.

“What’re you doing now?” Berry demanded as she tugged as hard as she could with one hand. It was no good, the mats were way too heavy. So she opened her mouth as wide as she could (which got pretty big when she was laughing) and clenched her teeth on the edge of the hilt, using her free hand to pull. Finally, it was moving!

But then Berry froze, and in the next instant spat out the light stick into a hand, her face contorted slightly. Ewwww, Pale Guy sweat!! Well, not as salty as Velusia water but was this how he tasted like??!! Maybe something sweet would balance out the salt, yuck! Her face flushed gold a little, the girl slightly flustered.

All the remote sensed was energy waving to and fro , and so it did its best to shoot at the wielder.

Berry wasn’t surprised, but she sure was annoyed. She dropped the edge of the mat and stepped out of the zaps’ directions, frowning at the remote. Would she be able to turn it off? Maybe there was a switch on it…

She stepped toward it, her concentration totally focused on the little machine. She bit her lip as she absently swished the purple light stick around with one hand, the zaps flying past her or somewhere else. The zaps came out of the holes in the machine…so if she could plug up the holes, then it wouldn’t shoot at her anymore!

A wide grin formed on her face and she leapt forward, brandishing the blade with one hand and her other hand reaching out.

A zap flew straight for her hand but she quickly moved it, faster than anyone should—but she was determined. She dropped to the ground, the Ball Thing in her hand.

Her eyes widened. And it was still shooting!! She dropped the light stick and held the remote in her two hands, fingers around the holes and palms lifted.

“Stop shooting!” Berry admonished the remote with a pout as it tugged from her with its little engines.

It zapped away at her, and she yelped and juggled the remote, somehow turning and throwing the machine in a way that every zap it fired did not hit her. There wasn’t a switch! Or if there was she couldn't find it!

“I said stop!” She dived for the mat and shoved the remote in the material, furiously rolling it up and closing off all exits. The lump in the mats shook and bobbed, and Berry grabbed a box in the corner and set it on top of the moving lump.

She smiled smugly, hands on her hips. “Take that.” Then she went over to the purple light stick and pressed the button, the glowy part withdrawing.

The sound was super cool, but Berry was too tired of this room to play with the blade. So she just left the hilt there and skipped out of the room, making sure to avoid the kitchen for now.
