AUDIO RECORDING: DARTH PLAGEUIS, TELOS HOLOCRON
SUBJECT: DARTH PLAGUEIS THE WISE

So… you’ve heard the tale, no doubt. The tragedy. My pupil, Darth Sidious, saw only the throne - but not the throne's weight. He imagined himself sovereign over life and death, but in his ambition, he severed the one mind in the galaxy that could have secured that dominion. Mine.

[A pause. The aged but unmarred Muun visage of Plagueis folds his hands. His voice is calm, clinical - curious rather than angry.]

Sidious ruled through fear. Fear of loss, fear of betrayal. But fear is a reaction. It is not a strategy. He killed his master and inherited an empire destined to collapse. Because he misunderstood the point of the Sith.

We do not seek power for power’s sake. Not I. The Force is not a blunt instrument - it is a pattern, a current, a system to be understood. I sought not to rule the galaxy as a tyrant, but to perfect it. To design a state so rational, so enduring, that war and weakness would become myths.

Had he not murdered me - had we stood together - his Empire would not have been consumed by rebels, nor undone by a boy and his father’s ghost. It would have lasted. Because with knowledge and will united, the Sith might have become eternal.

But he chose spectacle. You - Thane... Serus - do not have to. You are not burdened by revenge, nor poisoned by prophecy. You can be the first true ruler in a thousand years. Not because you demand it, but because you understand why the galaxy needs it.

The Third Republic does not need freedom. It needs clarity. And the Force does not reward saints. It obeys design.

[I ask of these so-called 'saints', of the Jedi.]

The Jedi claim peace as their doctrine. Serenity, detachment, selflessness. But these are not virtues - they are limitations disguised as enlightenment.

[Plagueis stands projected from within the glowing matrix of the holocron, arms behind his back, his voice measured but sharpened with disdain.]

In truth, the Jedi are the galaxy’s greatest saboteurs. They obstruct evolution in the name of balance. They refuse to act when action is needed. And when they do act, it is only to preserve the conditions of decay.

They claim to serve the will of the Force, but know nothing of its nature. The Force is not stillness - it is momentum. It is the curve of stars, the rise of civilisations, the grasp of power that shapes destiny. The Jedi fear this, and so they resist it.

This is why they betray their own values, time and again. Why they send children to war. Why they prop up crumbling governments. Why they reject love and call it peace.

They are the chained pet in the garden: not planting, not growing - only barking at those who do.

You, Serus, must be what they are not. Let them crumble. Let their temples fall into silence. And when the last of them fades from memory, the galaxy will not mourn. It will breathe.
