Personality & Traits
General Overview | Bruta is an experienced politician and is well versed in the politics of the sector, although he does not care much for social climbing, preferring to let his knowledge and abilities speak for themselves. Unlike most Ithorians, even his peers in the political field, he has learned to speak Basic fluently, even affecting a well-pronounced mid-core accent, albeit with the unavoidable echoic effect of his twin mouths. He has always believed in the importance of presenting in a proper and respectful manner, accommodating and adapting to the biology and customs of the various races he interacts with. As such, he is well-liked by those that know him, but he has never risen beyond the position of Chief Republic-Öetragan liaison.
Strengths & Weaknesses | + Expert on the politics of the Mayagil Sector and how it interacts with the wider Republic, with a particular focus on Öetrago + Adaptable and understanding, even amongst unusual company + Well mannered and easy to understand - Poor self-advocate, choosing to advocate for others instead to his own detriment - Overly trusting |
|
Ambitions | To promote the various Ithorian ways of life, both nomadic and static, and pioneer policies and changes that are positive to Öetragan business, culture and general way of life. He also supports planetary restoration projects across the galaxy. He is protective of those he cares about, including his son Bomoor, who has recently returned into his life after leaving the Reborn Jedi Order. He feels guilty for so strongly advocating for his son to join the Order and hopes to atone for this mistake by being highly supportive of Bomoor's endeavours however he can. |

|
Languages | Fluent in Ithorese, Basic, Bith and Kabalian, Twi’leki (as well as a basic understanding of several other languages). Understands H'nemthe and Xamster but cannot speak them due to being unable to replicate the higher-frequency sounds. NOTE – Any language spoken by the Ithorians is spoken in “stereo” due to their four throats and two mouths. |
Skills/Abilities
Fighting Style | Bruta rarely has the need to use physical force in his current life and is never armed. In his younger years, before his son was born, he had to fend off a number of wild animals from his property with his own brute strength. While he is still fairly strong, he has put on a bit more weight in recent years and does not cut quite such an imposing figure.
Notable Abilities | He is an artful negotiator and knows how to haggle for what he wants. His written words are just as articulate and he is a fast typist on a datapad. He is good at affirming the strength in others and is a strong team leader, even if he does not share this belief in himself.

History | Bruta was raised on a small farm on the Übal coastline, looking out across the channel to Mooko city. His parents were older, with him being the youngest in a moderately large family. He was often expected to work many chores around the farm, which he did not mind as he liked to make himself useful and care for his parents, who found working the land and tending livestock trickier as they got older. His family was part of a loose community herd on their island, but several of his siblings left for other Herds or travelled off-world when they became adults, leaving Bruta and his older sister, Marga, to keep the farm, along with a middle-aged Human farmhand, Krell. But Bruta never really wanted to inherit the farm as his sister did and, despite his parents not being overly keen, his sister vouched for him to take the shuttle across to the capital and attend school there. He made the trip every day, learning more about the rest of Öetrago and its herds, the wider sector and the galactic Republic. Krell helped tutor Bomoor in basic, which helped get him converse with some of the alien students and eventually joined the debate team and the Model Senate organisation, where be became entranced at the concept of representing people to the wider Republic. Bruta started his political career as a junior diplomat, little more than an assistant to the more senior diplomats in the Öetragan diplomatic service. However, he continued to gain experience conversing with other species, eagerly learning the languages of the neighbouring systems and other key Republic languages. When he was in his mid-20s, the second outer Rim conference broke out and he got one of his first tastes of violent disagreement within the sector's planets. Some siding with the Outer Rim Alliance and others staying firmly aligned with the Republic. Still starry eyed at the wonders of the senate and the ideal of galactic diplomacy, Bruta was firmly of the belief that supporting the Republic was in their best interests and this was ultimately vindicated by their senator's decision to remain aligned with the Republic, although being greatly sympathetic to the plight of the Outer Rim worlds. Around the same time, Bruta was being called back home more frequently due to mother's ailing health. His father had passed away a few year's before and his mother had long since lost the ability to tend to the farm, leaning even more on his sister, their farmhand and Bruta when he returned for the harvest season. During one period at home, his mother took very ill and his sister had called on a young, talented healer from their tribe to stop in and offer what helps he could. The young healer was a female Ithorian named Mumin Mozo, who was the buzz of their herd, all of them knowing she was likely to be picked to become a herd leader owing to her natural talents and affinity for communing with the Mother Jungle, even drawing on Her spiritual powers at times. Bruta was immediately entranced by the young woman; her kind nature, her subtle beauty and her ability to ease his mother's ailments. They got on well and she was amused by his enthusiasm for the wider galaxy, willing to listen to his stories and speculations. They began to meet every time he returned to the farm and eventually began a relationship together despite their long periods apart. Mumin continued to nurture her sage-like abilities while Bruta slaved away in Mooko city, becoming more involved and trusted in his position. Mumin only visited him in the city a couple of times, finding the towering buildings and paved streets uncomfortable compared to life on the grassy island of Übal. When his mother eventually passed, Bruta took some leave and spent some time back on the farm helping his sister sort out the inheritance. His sister had her own life partner now and she was soon due twin offspring so his assistance was warmly received. Mumin came to stay with them during this time, deepening the bond between the couple. She helped his sister when he birth eventually came with that same warmth and compassion that he always showed. Bruta eventually returned to his diplomatic duties around the time Mumin was approached to lead a herd on the mainland of Üssina; a semi-nomadic herd called the Elenca. While now a more senior diplomat, Bruta still found time to support Mumin. As his sister was able to return to farming along with her partner and new farmhands, Bruta gifted her his share of the farm in repayment for her support years ago for his education. He spent less time on Übal and more time amongst the Elenca, when not in Mooko city. This was a happy time for the pair and Mumin eventually found themselves with child, giving birth to a single boy, whom they named Bomoor. Bomoor grew up with the eclectic characters in the Elenca herd and Bruta saw a growing affinity for the same powers that Mumin held and a similar compassion and respect for life as he played and explored the world. Speaking with his colleagues, it was suggested that his son might be a candidate for the Republic's Reborn Jedi order, the protectors of peace and justice in their galaxy. Bruta had met a few Jedi in his work and found them to be kind, respectful individuals and he invited Jedi Watchman Brogue, a Bith Jedi, to meet with Bomoor and assess his ability. After bringing his son to meet the Watchman, the Jedi offered him a place in the Reborn Jedi Order. The young Bomoor was fascinated by the Jedi, hearing tales from his father and Bruta too was keen for his son to contribute to a larger world than he ever could. Mumin was far more hesitant, not wanting to lose her young and only son, but eventually agreed, being convinced by Bruta of the greater life and opportunities that the Order could grant Bomoor than even being a Herd leader like herself could. Bomoor had begun his new life in the Jedi Order, leaving behind a more muted and reserved Mumin along with many others in the Elenca that would miss the young man. Bruta continued to be positive and did not always grasp Mumin's sadness fully as he continued to excel at work and spend less time with the herd. Perhaps spurred by his commitment to the Republic, even offering his own son, Bruta soon after was offered the position of Chief Republic-Öetragan Liaison, making him the primary conduit for Öetragan representation to their regional senator. However, his relationship with Mumin began to suffer. She had foudn new purpose nurturing the people of Elenca and found Bruta's intermittent appearances more of a distraction from this life and a reminder of what she had given up. The pair still shared a strong compassion for each other, but eventually Mumin got Bruta to agree that they should not continue their relationship in vein and to focus on their own lives. Neither of them fully moved on, but found life more bearable as individuals, maintaining only intermittent contact with the other. Many years later, while attending a diplomatic function with their current senator, an Ithorian Wobar Cosh, Bruta was approached in hush tones by the Duros Vice Chancellor of the Republic and leader of the Centrality political alliance. He spoke of his son Bomoor being in trouble, having left the order along with a fellow Jedi, Thane. Hul was asking for any information that could lead to Bomoor's whereabouts in order to help the young man. Bruta was suspicious as to the Vice Chancellor's intentions, but could not help either way, having not heard from Bomoor in years, with family contact from within the Jedi being generally discouraged. Rattled by this news about his son, Bruta decided to make contact with Mumin again but needed a guide to find the Elenca's most recent whereabouts. An experienced Ongree sailor and local tour guide, Yllib-Senob, agreed to take them along the coast to find the Herd along with Bruta's aide Llim, who had reluctantly accompanied him on the trip. When they reached the Elenca settlement they encountered an old childhood friend of Bomoor, a Twi'lek named Jiljoo, who took them on to find Mumin, whom the young woman lovingly referred to as "Mother Mozo". His reunion with Mumin was emotional and held no hostility. She seemed to sense the importance of his visit and she was gravely concerned to hear that Bomoor may be in danger. She agreed to commune with the Mother Jungle to attempt to make contact with her son but it would take some time. During this time, Bruta and Llim were convinced to investigate some local suspicious activity involving another Herd that was having suspicious dealings with an off-world trading company. They, along with Jiljoo and Yllib-Senob, investigated and found that GalactaWerks was using the company as a shell in order to infiltrate and steal Öetragan terraforming technology. Upon returning to the Elenca, Mumin confirmed through her abilities that Bomoor was indeed in a dark place and would need help. Bruta committed to using his connections to find Bomoor and ensure he was safe. At the same time, he turned over the data on GalactaWerks activities to a renowned local scientist working with the Mother's Aid terraforming organisation on Öetrago in order to further investigate these dealings. Bruta made contact with Damask Hul again in an attempt to find his son. The Vice Chancellor used his old Intelligence Agency connections to task Jela Valla, a Twi'lek active intelligence agent, to find Bomoor and his companions. This eventually led to her making contact with them in Bastion space, finding they had retrieved a document of great interest to Damask and his political campaign. However, around the same time, the situation on Öetrago had worsened, with the revelation of the scale of GalactaWerk's infiltration of Öetragan terraforming operations and a resulting uprising, led primarily by Mumin and the Elenca herd after Bruta failed to get the Mooko city authorities to act against the company, realising how much corruption has seeped into the institutions he had placed trust in all this time. While Bruta did not join the rebel group, now known as Free Öetrago, he took his fight to the senate, but continued to find resistance, even from senator Cosh. He was appalled to hear that Mumin had been stripped of her title as herd leader after her involvement with the rebels was revealed. His aide Llim was also captured by an agent of GalactaWerks during an infiltration into one of their facilities. He continued to petition for both Mumin's reinstatement and to mount an investigation into GalactaWerks and secure Llim's release. It was while he was on the capital planet Coruscant that he heard news of a terrible conflict that had suddenly erupted at the Elenca settlement and, while he rushed to get a transport back, he did not arrive in time to assist and learned of the death of Mumin at the hands of the GalactaWerks operative and dark-side cultist Tolmin Voq. The attack had been a ploy to divide the rebel's forces and leave their northern base exposed to a secondary attack. While Llim had been returned, they had also lost Yllib-Senob during the attack and the rebels had suffered a blow they would not soon recover from. He also learned that he had only narrowly missed his son who had joined the battle and ultimately killed Voq, only to be whisked away as quickly as he came. |
