“Now listen up crew, because I’m only saying this once. This Sim is all about people and their specific skills, abilities and alignment. These things are intricate and specific to each individual – they could become very complicated if we chose to bog them down with numbers. For that reason, we have gone for a more qualitative approach to the earning of skills and alignment changes. The following guide will explain these changes. Do take note, so I don’t have to come and slap you straight.”

-Darth Wiki

During the course of a post, you may feel that your character has made a significant improvement in a skill or has shifted somewhat in their affiliation to the dark or light side, you should state this in the following form. At the end of the post, create a new section divided by a number of underscores in which to place your proposed changes.

END OF POST

CHARACTER 1

The above is an example section – no numbers are used because these sections are meant to provide a rough guide for the Game Masters to assess and alter each character’s biographies accordingly. It will be rare to see as many changes as in the example above – these shifts should only be written if there is a clear and necessary change to a character’s skill set or alignment. Players should be sensible when suggesting changes as the play experience is dependent on creating realistic character development within the storyline. Overpowered characters are to be discouraged – weaknesses are an important part of every character.

Looking specifically at each part of the mechanisms, when a character has a change in alignment, the following can be written:

For a shift towards the Dark Side, “▼ Dark Side Shift” or “\/ Dark Side Shift” will be acceptable.

For a shift towards the light side, “▲ Light Side Shift” or “/\ Light Side Shift” will be acceptable.

For an increase in a skill or ability, “- [Skill/ability name] Increase” will be acceptable.

For a new skill or ability, “☼ New Ability - [Skill/ability name]” or “* New Ability - [Skill/ability name]” will be acceptable.

(Note, the ▲, ▼and ☼ symbols are produced by ALT+30, ALT+31 and ALT+15 respectively)

All in all, be sensible about any changes you request and do speak with us if the system doesn’t work for you – this is a trial but it is one we hope shall work well.
