Berry Log 1: Introductions

“What’s this? Why are you blinking, G2? Did I turn you off? Wait, if I did you wouldn’t be blinking.”

The droid sounds off in an urgent and annoyed fashion. “Bleep bluuuuuuurp.”

A peal of bright laughter is released from an animated young female. “You sound funny. Huh? Am I supposed to do something?”

[Pause]

“Whooooooaaa!” the girl exclaims, and clapping is heard. “That was my voice! Do it again!”

[Pause]

The girl is recovering from the surprise, still laughing. “Wooow, that’s awesome. Okay, is it working? Can I talk?”

“Blurp.”

She laughs again, and then pauses. “Well, y’know, hearing myself talk is boring…but it wouldn’t be boring if someone else heard it. Yeah! Let’s talk to…” She suddenly speaks in hushed, awed tones. “…~the fuuutuuure~.”

“Uhh, so I should introduce myself. I’m Berry. My grandpa and Dondon call me Bería, but that’s way too long. Oh yeah and Thrane and Bombom call me that, too…I don’t know why.”

Berry gasps. “Oh! I should let you guys know what’s going on ~now~ before I go backwards."

“So I was leaving Velusia and then I got stuck in a fish tank and then I ended up on Stinky Moon. Then on Stinky Moon I ran into some Jedi Knights named Thrane and Boomy…uh…” She sighs, her words coming slow to her and with great effort of thought. “I think it’s…uh…Thaaane, and…Bomoory? Something like that. ANYWAY…they’re really nice because they took me along on their way back to Coruscant, which is where I wanna go.”

“Thrane’s this REALLY pale guy that he says is because his planet doesn’t get a lot of sun…how sad! But really, he is very sad…” Berry sighs, her voice quieting. “He…he feels like he’s carrying a too much. Like when I have to go get water from the well and I fill the bucket too much, and then I get tired and cranky by the time I drag it back to the hut. Yeah, well, he’s like that…but probably worse.” She pauses, perhaps to think. “I sense…a lot of anger…a lot of storms. He reminds me of Asidra when she was young…”

There is another long pause.

“Oh! But Bomoomy is kind of the opposite…he’s pretty calm, and super nice. He has this reeeaally long neck and he makes the CUTEST noises! I could just listen to him speaking and be happy. More like purring/booming/humming. Yeah…” She chuckles.

“Oh, and then we ran into Eye Guy! HE can shoot lasers…but I haven’t seen them yet. But I just ~know~ he has lasers. And he has SUPER COOL ARMOR. I’ve never seen armor like it before!! But I wonder how he goes to the fresher in it…does he have to take it off? Does he have to take off ONLY the butt part? Is it like pants?”

“And what about Mister Kipster??” she borderline yells. “He looks cool, too, with two horns! I have to butt heads with him someday. And does he have a tail? I have to investigate!!”

She pants a little, slightly exhausted from her excitement. At least a minute passes before the droid chirps at her.

“Oh! What was I talking about? Uh…my name, since Thrane calls me Bería which is super annoying. My whole name is Berry Z. Fieros, and my grandpa and dad have the same middle initials—isn’t that funny? Oh, and Asidra…”

There is a long pause.

“…yeah.” The girl sounds a bit more subdued, but suddenly perks up again. “So should I start from the beginning, G2?”

The droid whines slightly.

“Hee, yeah, I guess I might as well. Besides, I’m not gonna be on this ship for long, either. That dream…that hooded guy reminded me of Kobra…” She pauses to shudder. “Once we get to Coruscant I’m probably just gonna explore or something. I don’t think anyone will miss me! Aw, that’s gonna be sad, leaving you, G2…heh, maybe I can steal you.”

G2 whistles nonchalantly.

“Oh, right, my intro. Uhh…so I was born in the West Ocean. Don’t ask me why it’s called the West Ocean, ‘cause I don’t know!!”

“So nothing cool really happened until I was about…seven or eight years old. I was usually in the jungle fighting off snakes and stuff, or sharks off the shore…or Grandpa when he visited. That was fun. Well, not really since I got hurt a lot, but whatever.”

“And then Kahns came!! I was sooooo excited, I had never seen pirates before!! But these were the good kinds, not the mean ones. I was protecting the village anyway, so if they were bad I’d chase them out!”

“But yeah, stuff happened and she saved my life. And then she gave me her necklace, which is sooo cooool since it can never break. She told me to give it back when I’ve become a pirate, and I will when I meet her because I AM a pirate! (But not the bad kind)”

“Uh…I haven’t met her again yet, though…. I’ve been on the oceans for, like, a couple years and I still haven’t run into Kahns again. She’s out there, though, I see her in the newskelps time to time. And boy did she get SUPER powerful with her crew!”

Berry gets more animated, awe radiating in her voice. “And she’s part of this crazy super power group called the Four Kings! It’s sooo cooool.”

“Heh, but I’m gonna get even stronger than them. Why? Well, so I can become the Pirate Champion, of course! Once I am, then I can do ANYTHING I want! Won’t that be cool? Think of all the foooood to eat, or fun things to do.” She sighs dreamily.

“But I need to reunite with my crew first. Lemme tell you about the first one I ran into…she’s this super cool swordswoman named Orza, and—hey food’s ready! Bye, G2!”

There is a minute of silence.

“Blirp.”
