History | Damask Hul spent his younger years in the Duros Military programme where he received weapons and tactical training. When he came of age, Damask moved to Coruscant where he served in the Judicial Forces and received specialist training as a scout and then as a tactical officer. When the Second Outer Rim Conflict broke out, Damask was part of one of only a small number of non-GalactaWerks marine brigades. Eventually, he was promoted to an elite task-force named Twilight Company, who ran small covert missions onto ORA-aligned worlds. Despite his stern nature, Hul developed close friendships with the other members of Twilight Company, including a Cathar Jedi named Rynseh Lahan, whose status as a member of the Reborn Jedi Order was known only to a few (including those of Twilight Company). Twilight company was responsible for laying the groundwork for several successful military defeats and, on several occasions, prevented all out warfare on a number of planets by eliminating dangerous targets. After the war, many of the team separated and Damask was headhunted by the Third Republic Intelligence Office, initially to serve as an agent and then later as an operator. During his time in TRIO, Hul encountered a number of unusual plots involving GalactaWerks that suggested they were interfering with Republic affairs but the trails died out before he ever proved anything. Already wary of GalactaWerks after his experiences with their Marines during his time with the Judicial Forces, he became obsessed with the creeping corporate presence within the Republic’s diplomatic affairs. Eventually, Hul encountered his former brother-in-arms, Rynseh who was now working in coordination with TRIO as part of a secretive Jedi Shadow team, which was not officially recognised within the Republic. Damask was assigned as lead operator for the group and fed them information on several anti-Republic terrorist cells that had formed. The team was particularly focused on targets that identified with the Dark Side or relics of the Sith. While he had fond memories of serving with Rynseh, Hul resented this secretive Jedi involvement in intelligence and political matters. He did not agree that a few powerful Force users should overrule policy. Damask’s final mission with this group involved identifying a cell on Balmorra that were reported to have found an ancient Sith artefact, which they planned to use against the Republic. Tracking them to a weapons plant on the planet, Hul soon discovered evidence that the information leak was intentional and that the team were walking into a trap. However, knowing that calling it off at this point might mean losing this lead on the terrorist cell, he ordered them to proceed. The mission ended in terrible failure, with the entire weapons plant detonated, killing most of the team along with most of the target cell. However, the artefact mentioned was never recovered and so it was presumed that someone managed to escape from the inferno with it. Rynseh was declared dead and this led Hul to resign his post with TRIO. After a period of absence from intelligence, Damask turned his eye towards the Senate. He had a number of connections in the political sphere and his reputation for his keen planning and eye for detail had him appointed as aide to several successful political campaigns, including the Supreme Chancellery election campaign for New Alderaan Senator Paralles. Becoming fast friends with the soon-to-be Supreme Chancellor, Damask was given the position of Speaker when Paralles took office. Very quickly, however, Damask became friendly with the anti-capitalist senators under the banner of the Centrality and began to rally others together to the same cause using some of his skills from his time in Intelligence. He now is recognised as leader of the Centrality opposing Paralles’ own party: The Coalition. Under his leadership, the entire senate has become more united through Paralles and Hul’s own close partnership, but he has also been able to block a number of pro-corporate bills from passing during his time in office. |
