Personality & Traits

General Overview An older gentleman, Quellus is well-spoken with a respectful manner, which belies his more commanding and dominating nature, with a baritone voice and likeliness to stand tall when admonishing others, something he is likely to do.

A staunch believer in the Waayist philosophy of the Reborn Jedi Order, Quellus seeks to enforce these ideals across the entire membership, his experience and prowess with both the Force and the blade having earned him high regard and respect, as well an ounce of fear. He is, for lack of a better term, a crusader against dark arts and those that do not follow the Code, destroying any dark side artefacts, and quick to reprimand those who deviate from the Jedi Path.

Nevertheless, despite what some call bigoted and polarised ways, Quellus is still a compassionate soul, taking a keen interest in the learning and development of each of the students at the Jedi Temple, involving himself regularly in the tutelage of new arrivals, and frequently holding open discussions with the membership of the Order.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strong-willed and often stubborn, Quellus is still a wise and capable leader, having earned his position as Grand Master of the Order through his guile, intelligence and experience as a Jedi, proving to be a very successful teacher to those beneath him, and a capable friend to the Galactic Senate.

However, as a stern Waayist, he takes anti-Reborn Jedi Order attitudes quite seriously, often growing loud in his rants against organisations and people who oppose their system, with some accusing him of being overly fearful as he closes off exiles, the Rift Jedi and those who would not accept his approach.
Ambitions To rid the galaxy of practitioners of the dark side, and bring all Force-using groups into the Reborn Jedi Order, which he believes to be a more enlightened group, and to ensure the Sith can never re-manifest themselves.
Interests and Hobbies Traditionalism, and the typical pursuits of a venerated Jedi Master, but with a heavy focus on meditation and trying to siphon information of the future, to better prepare for any possible threats. Quellus is always seeking the next dark obstacle that may be approaching, and then deliberating on how to handle it.

He particularly enjoys performances and attending functions with the Supreme Chancellor, with whom he is close friends with, and discussing/researching history and philosophy. The Grand Master is certainly a man who enjoys some classier pursuits in life, despite never owning anything of particular significance (in accordance to the Jedi way).
Languages Galactic Basic Standard, Chagri, Huttese and numerous others

Skills/Abilities

Fighting Style Quellus, like most on the Jedi High Council, is an accomplished lightsaber combatant, taking his ability to grand heights in both duelling levels and the general battlefield, having trained extensively in the Ataru and Shien/Djem So forms of lightsaber combat, which has indeed leant itself to greater mastery of Niman, able to accommodate for most combat scenarios.

A capable user of practical Force powers, Quellus generally blends these into his preferred style of fighting, lending to a face-paced blend of Djem So and Ataru, often incorporating uses of Force shunts and pulls.
Notable Abilities Quellus has been gifted with a deep connection to the Force; a connection that runs into the fabrics of people's minds, which allows him to be able to 'touch' the Force Sensitivity of others. This ability as led him to be able to - with assistance - sever one's connection to the Force, as well as the ability of farsight. Whilst not as able as some in that particular field, he is nevertheless capable at foreseeing aspects of the future, always hunting down the dark side that clouds the prosperity of the Republic and the Reborn Jedi Order.

History Born on the Chagrian homeworld, Quellus was taken as a young infant from his birth family to be trained as a Jedi at the Temple on Coruscant. The young Chagrian immediately showed great potential and prowess as a Force user, and was apprenticed sooner than most to a Jedi Master named Vodan, a member of the well-respected and mysterious species the late and famous Grand Master Yoda had been of. With permission, Vodan took young Quellus to the re-established Jedi Enclave on Alaris Prime, a Wookiee colony, where he continued the padawan's training in a new light.

Vodan, himself the apprentice of Junun Waay, the Chevin Grand Master who reformed the Jedi Order following the Grand Proclamation and establishment of the Third Republic, was something of a conservative Jedi, and had trained and taught within the Reborn Order for five hundred years, having sat on the High Council at one time, but chose to step down in favour of imparting knowledge upon the new apprentices of the Order. Nearly all of Vodan's former padawans ascended to mastery and membership of the High Council, a testament to his ability, as well as his high-standing within the Jedi Order. One of his apprentices, a Devaronian named Vant Kalun, served a stint as Grand Master of the Order as well.

Quellus engaged in numerous missions alongside Vodan, and developed quickly as a Jedi as well as a moralist and philosopher, as whilst Vodan had a good sense of humour and developed strong friendships with his apprentices, he was nevertheless stern in some of his training regimens, having Quellus spend hours in the Archives, rooting out old tomes and would always bring him along on his missions, which were generally associated with the location of Force relics, both Jedi and Sith. Vodan was specifically tasked with the seeking of old pieces, and was amongst those who developed the tenet of destroying the dark side-orientated ones, although he did not dismiss some of the notions out of hand; he simply did not believe that most could comprehend and rationalise what was presented.

In time, after many challenging assignments, Quellus progressed to Knighthood, but continued to engage in many assignments of the same nature alongside his former Master, even when he took on his own first apprentice. Possibly an even stricter tutor than Vodan, Quellus imparted a strict sense of duty and honour (bound to the Code, of course) to each of his students. Ironically, it was this sense of honour and duty that led one of his most powerful apprentices, the Nautolan Jedi Master Zam Kessar, to lead a schism within the Order, forming the Rift Jedi in defence of the resurgent Outer Rim Alliance during the Second Outer Rim Conflict. This remains, in his opinion, Quellus' greatest failure, and one he continues to feel responsible for.

It was just before this very conflict that Quellus succeeded the Human Jaq Thuran as Grand Master, having trained more Jedi to successful Knighthood (and Mastery) than most accomplished in a longer lifespan, none of them being any less of a Jedi despite their often shorter apprenticeships. Master Thuran, largely held responsible for some of the rising troubles within the Jedi Order concerning the Outer Rim crisis of the time, willingly accepted his fate, having his connection to the Force severed and departed the Order.

Around this time, Vodon was killed during one of his excursions to an old Sith world, seeking a relic of great power, and something deemed important to destroy. Sadly, some of the Sith alchemical beasts remained, and were able to overpower the Jedi Master, but not before he learnt of his apprentice's ascension to Grand Mastery.

During the Second Outer Rim Conflict itself, Quellus wished to keep the Jedi out of the war as many Jedi, following Thuran's poor handling of the situation, continued to voice support for involving themselves, and not necessarily as defenders of the Republic, but of the Alliance. Quellus and the High Council urged the Order to remain out of the conflict, often speaking individually to the dissenting voices, but also using some heavier-handed methods to control the growing schism, although were unsuccessful with the rise of Zam Kessar. With Jedi now actively fighting against the Republic on the side of the Outer Rim Alliance, Quellus decreed it was now the responsibility of the Reborn Jedi Order to defeat these Rift Jedi, having them labelled as Force users who called upon the dark side in their battles, and rejected the true and harmonious system of the genuine Jedi Order.

Taking an active role, Grand Master Quellus did fight in some of the battles of the conflict, but refused the title of 'general' for the Jedi participating, or any true military rank, although they did tend to take advisory and leadership roles, both with politicians and in the battlefield. When Zam Kessar defeated Jedi Master Kallom Drayden in a lightsaber duel, Quellus lost any hope of 'redeeming' his former padawan, and held the belief that much of the Rift Jedi had become corrupted by the war, and it was imperative that the true Jedi Knights did not allow themselves to be so easily swayed, but that the Rift had to be stopped before their dark beliefs spread.

The war's end left a bitter taste in Quellus' mouth, as the Republic won its military victory over the ORA but lost the moral victory; the Belsmuth-Quelii Treaty legitimised the Rift Jedi and their Assembly as an official part of the new Republic province, with Zam Kessar being named Commander of the organisation, and Quellus' counterpart in the rival organisation. Quellus believed in ending the Rift Jedi, and has continued to grow angered by the fact so many Jedi who protest against the Council go to join the Rift Assembly as their Guardians, but is legally obligated against taking any action against them or Kessar.

Nevertheless, the Grand Master has taken a positive role in the political community, having become close friends with incumbent Supreme Chancellor Paralles and spending a good deal of his time in the social circuits, but this has not led to him forgetting his obligations to the Jedi Order or the galaxy. As stated before, he remains devoted to the training and nurturing of young Jedi and their minds, as well as his duties to the Jedi High Council itself.
