Solo: A Star Wars Story

It’s not even been a whole year yet and we have another Star Wars film. The exciting escapades of everyone’s favourite smuggler were on the big screen from last night and it was a pretty good show overall. Another visually impressive film and one that also does quite well at adding to the characters and relationships of Han Solo, Lando Calrissian and, yes, even Chewbacca. Perhaps less engaging were some of the new characters introduced such as Han’s old romance, Qi'ra, and the rather uncomfortable new droid L3-37. There was also a disappointing lack of established aliens shown in the film, with only brief glimpses of a Rodian and a Twi’lek at different points in the film, although several old names and planets were mentioned. Still a worthwhile watch, however, with some interesting developments.

Perhaps not too many new ideas to bring to our story from this particular entry to the franchise, but, as with all the new films, it does not detract anything as we are set apart from that new universe. So, as Disney’s Star Wars continues to march forwards, so do we. Very shortly, we will be getting to the Korriban part of the mission and delving further into darkness with practically all our main characters.
